“Vulvas aren’t dainty. They can eat a penis and push out a baby.”
A Curious History of Sex is a fascinating and comprehensive exploration of the cultural, social, and historical aspects of human sexuality. Kate takes readers on a captivating journey through time, shedding light on the diverse perspectives, practices, and taboos surrounding sex. With meticulous research and an engaging writing style, she offers a thought-provoking and enlightening examination of a topic often shrouded in secrecy and misunderstanding.
In A History of Sex, Lister delves into the intimate details of human sexual behaviour throughout history, starting from ancient civilisations to the present day. My only advice is if you are similar to me and listen to audiobooks on the way to work at 06.30 am, then some of the topics and details may put you off your breakfast!
I’m trying to read more non-fiction books this year and this was a great one to have completed. I was recommended this book when I visited the @vagina_museum last year, which by the way I 100% recommend visiting and fully supporting.
There is so much that we don’t know or get told about sex because of the taboo and stigma of the topic. This was a great read and I would love to read more of the author's work.
