By Tom Felton.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“If you tell a person he’s great enough times, he’ll start to believe it. If you blow enough smoke up someone’s arse, sooner or later they’ll start breathing it in”.
A huge thank you to the amazing - @Kaylreads for recommending this five-star read! I've always been a huge Harry Potter fan so I'm not sure why this did not pique my interest sooner! This book is a memoir of Tom’s story and his experiences before, during, and after the filming of the Harry Potter movies.
This was my first book of 2024, and it only took a matter of days for me to get through. Most memoirs are ghost-written or severely proof-edited to the point where it doesn’t even sound like the author anymore. I only know about Tom Felton from the Harry Potter films and all the extra that surrounds it, but you could easily tell that this was written from a significant and sincere place.
What sets this memoir apart is the candid portrayal of how he was not the so-called expected "perfect actor" and a child actor. Tom discusses his childhood and how he wasn't initially interested in being an actor and would go from hobby to hobby trying to make that work, Tom also is very honest about those surrounding him who played a key part in his role as Draco, he discusses unabashed admiration for his colleagues, including the likes of Alan Rickman and Jason Isaacs.
In the heart of the memoir lies a profoundly poignant narrative, where the pages become a canvas for his candid conversation about mental health and the relentless battle against addiction. In a realm where the glitz and glamour often overshadow personal struggles, Felton's commendable openness casts a revealing light on the shadows that linger behind the scenes.
In an industry where many celebrities choose the path of secrecy, Felton courageously breaks the mould, offering readers an unfiltered glimpse into the tumultuous journey of grappling with inner demons.
Tom Felton's biography is a gem that manages to be both entertaining and emotional. Its cheeky humour and heartfelt moments work in tandem, leaving readers with a profound sense of appreciation and, undoubtedly, a deep love for the journey shared within its pages.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading all about Tom, Harry Potter and everything that has shaped him to be the person he is today, I'll be taking an interest in more of his work from now on.
