Chicago 💋🪑

This week, I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Press Night for Chicago at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford. A special thank you to Leanne for this invitation.

Framed as the "sexiest" musical of all time, I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to attend. This production has been on my must-see list for quite some time!

“Murder, greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery, and treachery—those are the things we hold near and dear to our hearts.” This is how the internationally acclaimed musical Chicago begins.

Set against the glamorous backdrop of the 1920s, Chicago follows the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who kills her lover when he threatens to leave her. Determined to evade conviction, she manipulates the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by enlisting the help of Chicago's most cunning criminal lawyer. He skillfully turns her heinous act into a sensational media spectacle, reminiscent of the tabloid headlines we see today.

Seeing Chicago for the first time was an unforgettable experience, and it's been on my bucket list for years! The setup was something truly unique—I've never seen anything like it, with the live orchestra not just playing, but integrated into the performance on stage as part of the act.

The standout performances were clear. Faye Brookes, as Roxie Hart, had the audience captivated from the very beginning. She truly embodied the role. Another mention has to go to Kevin Clifton as Billy Flynn. We all know he's an incredible dancer, but his singing was just as impressive, if not more.

Chicago has easily earned a spot in my top five theatre performances, and I can't stop talking about it to everyone I know!

The Alhambra Theatre beautifully combines its historic charm with modern amenities, creating the perfect atmosphere for any performance. With exceptional acoustics and clear sightlines from every seat, the venue immerses audiences in the magic of each production, ensuring that every show shines.

Chicago is on tour at The Alhambra Theatre from the 21st of October until the 26th of October 2024. Tickets are still available and you can buy your tickets here. Don’t miss your chance—book your tickets now! It would be a crime to let this opportunity pass you by.
