Ghost: The Musical 🫶🏻

"Oh My Love, My Darling...I've Hungered For Your Touch".

Last night, I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Press Night for Ghost: The Musical at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford. A special thank you to Emma for this invitation.

I must admit it’s been over a decade since I last sat, misty-eyed, watching Ghost and the iconic pottery scene with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. Joining me for the evening was my husband, who had never seen the film and was entering this experience with no preconceptions. As one of cinema's most beloved classics, Ghost was a monumental success upon its release in 1990, even earning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin an Oscar for his moving script, which he has now skilfully adapted for the stage.

The story follows Sam and Molly, a couple whose world is turned upside down when a tragic confrontation leaves Sam murdered and Molly devastated. Sam, trapped between worlds, must find a way to reach Molly through the help of a psychic in order to protect her from the dangers he can foresee.

The strength of this production lies in its captivating performances, particularly from Rebekah Lowings as Molly Jenson and Josh St. Clair as Sam Wheat.

Lowings’ portrayal of grief and resilience is brought to life through her powerful rendition of “With You,” a hauntingly beautiful number that left the entire audience visibly moved. Her spine-tingling vocal performance carried an emotional depth that lingered long after the final note, showcasing her exceptional range and artistry.

St. Clair’s portrayal of Sam was equally enthralling. In the poignant, climactic moments shared between Sam and Molly, he held the audience spellbound, capturing the profound connection and longing between the characters. It was here that the room fell silent before the wave of tears and applause that followed—an unforgettable moment of emotional release for everyone present.

Ghost: The Musical delivers an unforgettable experience, blending a timeless love story with outstanding performances and evocative music. This adaptation captures the essence of the original film while creating its unique emotional impact on stage. It is a deeply moving production that will resonate with audiences long after the final curtain falls—a true testament to the enduring power of this story and the talent of its cast.

Ghost: The Musical is on tour at The Alhambra Theatre from the 29th of October until the 2nd of November. Tickets are still available and you can buy your tickets here. Don’t miss your chance—book your tickets now!
