Moral Injuries

Updated: Jul 3

Three aspiring doctors, Anjali, Olivia, and Laura, form an unbreakable bond as they navigate the rigours of medical training. Despite choosing different paths in their careers; Anjali as a GP, Olivia as a heart surgeon, and Laura as an air ambulance doctor. They remain inseparable, bound by a shared secret from their past.

During their training, a harrowing incident involving drugs tests the strength of their friendship, leading them to unite in secrecy. Anjali, haunted by her abusive past relationship, shoulders the weight of guilt, believing she's to blame for the ordeal.

As their lives progress, Olivia finds stability in marriage and motherhood, while Laura struggles with personal demons, seeking solace in work and risky relationships. When their children become entangled in a troubling situation, their conflicting beliefs and loyalties threaten to unravel the truth.

As tensions rise, past wounds resurface, causing rifts between the friends. Anjali's partner's unwavering moral compass leads to a revelation that shakes the foundation of their bond, the realisation that their secret has caused irreversible harm to an innocent man.

Amidst betrayal and upheaval, the trio must confront the truth of their past and reconcile the fractures in their relationships before it's too late.

As a nurse, you would think I would not want to read or engage with any kind of medical fiction, but I'm the opposite, I love it and find them such easy reads! This month, I was picked by the team at Tandem Collective UK to take part in this read-along!

Alongside the book were some extra goodies! You aren't a nurse if you aren't obsessed with coffee and need a daily fix, you also aren't a nurse if your daily quote is "Take No Sh*t".

Thank you so much to the author - Christie Watson and both teams at Tandem Collective UK and Orion Books for running the read-along!
