NOW That's What I Call Musical 🎵

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Press night for NOW That's What I Call Musical at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford—a special thank you to Emma for this invitation.

This week, Celebrating 40 years of iconic and chart-topping compilation albums, this brand-new musical comedy has arrived at The Alhambra Theatre as part of its UK tour.

It’s Birmingham, 1989. School friends Gemma and April are completely wrapped up in planning their futures. But when we fast forward to Birmingham in 2009, their worst nightmare awaits them.

As old friends reunite, the drama kicks off, and past romances resurface.

The perfect accompaniment to this musical is having your hair crimped, some spandex, and not fighting the urge to sing along.

The night was filled with some of the cheesiest hits and everyone within the audience was singing along to classics like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Hey Mickey and Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves.

A standout performance of the night came from Maia Hawkins, who played Young April. It's hard to believe this was her professional debut tour, as her confidence and vocals surpassed everyone on stage. Her unforgettable performance is one that will stay with me for a long time.

Another star moment was Jay Osmond's performance of Crazy Horses. While I'm too young to fully grasp his significance, the audience's reaction was electric the moment he stepped on stage, showing just how much of an impact he still has.

The Alhambra Theatre beautifully combines its historic charm with all the modern comforts, making it the perfect place for any performance. With its fantastic acoustics and great views from every seat, you’re guaranteed to feel completely immersed in the magic of every show, letting each performance shine.

NOW That's What I Call A Musical is on tour at The Alhambra Theatre from 15th-19th October 2024. Tickets are still available and you can buy your tickets here.
