Question 7, a sprawling narrative penned by Australian author Richard Flanagan, transcends traditional boundaries of genre, weaving together elements of memoir, literary history, and philosophical pondering.
Flanagan's presence in the narrative is linked to his father's survival of Japanese POW camps, which in turn connects to a chain of events stretching back through history. The dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, for instance, is traced back to physicist Leo Szilard's conceptualisation of the nuclear chain reaction, which itself was influenced by HG Wells' novel - The World Set Free.
There is a lot of jargon included with this book and it needs a lot of time, dedication and quiet to read and concentrate on. Thank you so much to the author, and the team at Vintage Books and Tandem Collective for sending out this package and book!
