The Cornish Midwife

Updated: Jul 1

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ella Mehenick, a skilled midwife, leaves her small Cornish town of Port Agnes behind for a new life in London. However, when her seemingly perfect world crumbles, she realises that the only place where she can heal her wounded heart is the very place she once called home.

This book was my introduction to Jo Bartlett's writing, and I was captivated from start to finish! It's a heartwarming, charming, and easy-to-read tale that follows Ella, the jilted bride, as she returns to her picturesque village of Port Agnes in Cornwall, England. There, fate reunites her with Dan, her first love.

The story beautifully illustrates how first love can leave an everlasting mark on our hearts, no matter where life takes us or what challenges we face.

As the first book in a series, it holds great promise. I especially loved the authentic portrayal of midwifery and the engaging stories and situations surrounding Ella's profession. As a neonatal nurse, I found it particularly enjoyable to gain insight into the world of midwives who play a vital role in the birthing process.

Although the plot might be somewhat predictable, the easy-going and uplifting nature of the narrative made it the perfect remedy to brighten my spirits. I'm eager to explore more of @jo_bartlett123 works, as this book left me eager for more of her storytelling magic.
