By Cariad Lloyd.
I wasn't familiar with Cariad Lloyd's podcast - The Grief Cast until I came across this book, but it's now on my list as her insights on grief proved invaluable in this honest and thought-provoking exploration.
Joining the grief club is an experience nobody desires. Once you find yourself in it, emotions can be overwhelming, and isolation can set in. This book not only delves into the depths of grief, acknowledging the profound sense of loss, but it also emphasises that there's no set timeline for emotions, and each person's journey is distinctly their own. Additionally, it provides valuable insights on how to support someone in grief, offering practical tips and guidance.
Grief is an inevitable part of the human experience, intertwined with living and loving. This book serves as a guide for readers to navigate their emotions in an informed and, at times, humorous manner. Incorporating celebrity experiences underscores that nobody is immune to grief.
As a nurse who has worked in many settings, including the emergency department, end-of-life care, intensive care, and neonatal intensive care, I've encountered grief on numerous occasions. Despite the frequency of these experiences, the process never becomes easier. Engaging with books like this one serves as a valuable tool for me. It aids in deepening my understanding of grief, fostering continuous learning, and enhancing my communication skills. This knowledge equips me to provide better support to individuals whose lives I am privileged to be a part of in my role as a nurse.
Thank you so much to the author - Cariad Lloyd and The Grief Cast as well as Youssef at Bloomsbury Publishing for the ARC.
