“'I’d sell my soul for her. Are you happy now?”

Catch Her If You Can is a fun and fast paced sports romance that brings together marriage of convenience and friends to lovers in a way that is easy to read and entertaining throughout.

Madden Donahue, a professional baseball catcher, has been in love with Eve Mitchell since they were teenagers. Despite years of loyalty and quiet devotion, Eve has always kept her distance, leaving Madden unable to fully move on.

Eve, a burlesque club owner, has her own reasons for holding back. Her loyalty to her best friend and her complicated past have shaped her decisions, often at the expense of her own happiness. When life suddenly changes and she is left caring for her sister’s children, Madden steps in with an unexpected solution. Marriage.

What begins as a practical arrangement quickly becomes something far more complicated. Living together and sharing responsibilities brings their long buried feelings to the surface, creating tension between what is real and what is meant to be temporary.

The dynamic between Madden and Eve carries the story. There is a long history between them, and the idea of years of unspoken feelings adds an interesting layer to their relationship. The familiar elements of Tessa Bailey’s writing are all here, including the banter, the chemistry, and the fast moving pace that makes the book easy to fly through.

I enjoyed the premise and the overall feel of the story. It delivers on what you would expect from this kind of romance, offering light escapism and plenty of engaging moments.

That said, I did not feel as emotionally connected to the characters as I had hoped. Given the depth of their shared history, I wanted to feel more of that long standing tension and emotional build up between them. While their relationship works on the surface, it did not quite reach the same level of impact as other books in the series and felt very rushed towards the end.

Despite that, it remains an enjoyable and entertaining read. The mix of marriage of convenience, friendship, and romance creates a story that is easy to get lost in for a few hours.

While it may not be a standout compared to earlier books in the series, it is still a solid and enjoyable addition.
